+//Multitrack audio recording & editing//
 +
+Is an audio recording and editing program which is very well suited to record a single voice, a band, an ensemble, a whole orchestra or any other source of music!
 +
 +Sweep
 +
+Sweep is an audio editor and live playback tool for GNU/Linux, BSD and compatible systems. It supports many music and voice formats including WAV, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, Speex and MP3, with multichannel editing and LADSPA effects plugins.

 +
+Snd is a sound editor modelled loosely after Emacs. It can be customized and extended using either s7 (included in the Snd sources), Ruby, or Forth.

 +— D e s c r i p t i o n —
 +
+ReZound aims to be a stable, open source, and graphical audio file editor primarily for but not limited to the Linux operating system.
 +
 +Protux
 +
+Protux is being developed to be a complete Digital Media Production tool, or Digital Media Workstation. We focus on develop it for GNU/Linux users, but it runs in any workstation with a Java >=1.5 VM installed, and even in the web thru a standard browser that supports Java (Believe or not). Protux aims to offer an integrated environment for audio, video and midi production, thru a inovative interface where the productivity is focused.

 +
+MilkyTracker is an open source, multi-platform music application for creating .MOD and .XM module files. It attempts to recreate the module replay and user experience of the popular DOS program Fasttracker II, with special playback modes available for improved Amiga ProTracker 2/3 compatibility.
 +
 +Linux MultiMedia Studio
 +
+LMMS is a free cross-platform alternative to commercial programs like FL Studio®, which allow you to produce music with your computer. This includes the creation of melodies and beats, the synthesis and mixing of sounds, and arranging of samples. You can have fun with your MIDI-keyboard and much more; all in a user-friendly and modern interface.
 +
 +Ecasound
 +
+Ecasound is a software package designed for multitrack audio processing. It can be used for simple tasks like audio playback, recording and format conversions, as well as for multitrack effect processing, mixing, recording and signal recycling. Ecasound supports a wide range of audio inputs, outputs and effect algorithms. Effects and audio objects can be combined in various ways, and their parameters can be controlled by operator objects like oscillators and MIDI-CCs. A versatile console mode user-interface is included in the package

 +Chuck
 +
+ChucK is a new (and developing) audio programming language for real-time synthesis, composition, performance, and now, analysis - fully supported on MacOS X, Windows, and Linux. ChucK presents a new time-based, concurrent programming model that's highly precise and expressive (we call this strongly-timed), as well as dynamic control rates, and the ability to add and modify code on-the-fly. In addition, ChucK supports MIDI, OSC, HID device, and multi-channel audio. It's fun and easy to learn, and offers composers, researchers, and performers a powerful programming tool for building and experimenting with complex audio synthesis/analysis programs, and real-time interactive control.

 +BaudLine
 +
+Baudline is a time-frequency browser designed for scientific visualization of the spectral domain.  Signal analysis is performed by Fourier, correlation, and raster transforms that create colorful spectrograms with vibrant detail.  Conduct test and measurement experiments with the built in function generator, or play back audio files with a multitude of effects and filters.  The baudline signal analyzer combines fast digital signal processing, versatile high speed displays, and continuous capture tools for hunting down and studying elusive signal characteristics.

 +Audicle
 +
+Many software environments have been developed for computer music. Programming environments typically provide constructs to implement synthesis or musical algorithms, whereas runtime environments allow performers to exert parametric control over their programs onstage, in real-time. We present a potentially new type of audio programming environment that integrates the programmability of the development environment with elements of the runtime environment. The result, called the Audicle, is a duct-taped intersection of a concurrent smart editor, compiler, virtual machine, and debugger, all running in the same address space, sharing data, and working together at runtime. We sometimes believe this augmentation has the potential to fundamentally enhance the way we write and visualize audio programs both offline and on-the-fly.

 +Synaesthesia
 +
+Synaesthesia is a program that gives a graphical accompanyment to music. Anyone can make some pretty piece of graphics that flashes in time to the music, Synaesthesia manages a wee bit more sophistication. The screenshots to the right don't really do justice to the display, which writhes in tight synchrony to the music you play.
+Synaesthesia's display combines information about the frequency, location and diffuseness of sound. The display is sufficiently detailed to let you distinguish several individual instruments, singers, or special effects on screen by their location, shape and color, and sufficiently fast to distinguish individual drum beats and notes.
